Tipped St Kilda to beat Footscray, but at three quarter time last night I went to bed pissed off that although the Bulldogs had squandered numerous chances to ice the game, they still appeared to have the Saints, and my tip, covered. Fair to say I was pleasantly surprised to subsequently discover that the Saints had pinched the game with the last four goals, while the Dogs pulled off a textbook "didn't know how to win it" collapse.
Nor was I the only person to conclude the Dogs were home. A disgusted Charles Happell at Back Page Lead also gave up on the Saints, and the style of game, but went too hard, too early:
Deadline pressure cannot fool the ever-vigilant Google Reader.
Three hours between first and second edition says to me that Charles received a late night phone call which possibly contained a corrective "The Saints won, you knucklehead."
Just watched the third quarter replay on Fox and I can't believe I thought the Dogs were still good things at 3/4 time. The Saints were all over the Dogs in the third, winning the inside-fifties and contested footy. Although I was only listening on the radio last night, I must have been half asleep, or the commentary must have been unrepresentative swill, because the Saints were all set to swamp the Bullies.

I picked the Saints, too. Fell asleep at halftime. Woke up with 10 mins. to go. Saints win. Bloody genius tipper that I am. Back to sleep.

All you need are red glasses and a razor and you'd be the dead spit of Stuey Littlemore, TT.

Can I be the first off the mark for boosting Matthew Lloyd as a special comments boundary rider dude.
The Velvet Sledgehammer is an outstanding special comments man, best I've heard in years. Never would have picked it.
Also, please note that joke of a commentator, Robert Walls, pinches his thoughts 10 minutes later. Ya ain't fooling me, old man.

Commentator: "Great bit of play that. Rob?"
Rob: "Great bit of play."
