I am Not Trampis

My comment is up at my place where I link this place of course.
https://nottrampis.blogspot.com/2018/12/the-first-test-cometh.html

I am looking forward to see how 7 go. They must have better commentators surely. Do they know the difference between a ball seaming and a ball that swings that the NEIN commentators obviously got wrong.

And we know Virat eats Kholiflower and drinks Coca Kholi

I am Not Trampis

ABC have Alison Mitchell although not as good as Aggers is still up there and of course Harsha Bhogle .
Andrew Moore calls cricket like Thugby League. Aggh but still.
Why are the poms the world beaters at calling cricket jut like football.

Channel 7 not looking good. Fleming is acceptable as is Ponting but Brayshaw, McGrath and Slater are dead boring and we know Mel does not understand flirting. She was poor at football and I expect the same with Cricket.

I am Not Trampis

oh goody the ball is moving.
A word no the umpires.
The pom is good and the Sri Lankan should not be on the panel.
It is a disgrace and slur on any umpire that they cannot umpire in their own country.

I see all my friends are here

I am Not Trampis

I like the pitch. good bounce. It loks a good cricket wicket. We should see a result

I am Not Trampis

The Indians showing their form against a swing ball in the UK was no fluke

Tony Tea

Indians left their shot selection at the airport.

Soups

TT, more accurately "in the nets".
They looked good in there!

I am Not trampis

apart from the Starc wicket ( our Junior keeper mind you) the batsmen have all got themselves out

Tony Tea

Yes. Spot on, Soups. The video of E-Kohli smashing them in the nets was ominous from an Indian perspective. Che-Poo goes about his business in the no fuss way you expect of a Test cricketer with his shit together.

Oh, and there's Rohit Sharma doing Rohit Sharma things.

Bruce

The video of Kohli that everyone was creaming their pants over, had him hitting several very catchable shots past the bowlers who just stepped out of the way.

Aussie bowlers playing to their strengths on pace and bounce and the bad shots are being induced by some canny bowling. They think they're getting the ball they want but beaten by the bounce.

Tony Tea

Bounce is their Kryptonite. Ask any West Aussie bowler from their glory years - just throw it up there, outside off, and watch them nick it.

Carrot

Radelaide is a pretty rubbish time-zone for me - woke up just after stumps. Have been trawling YouTube trying to find some highlights and just saw some footage of Pujara’s knock. That was an incredible piece of fielding from Cummins to get rid of him - he really is a special cricketer. Gone are the days when fast bowlers are banished to fine leg and 3rd man and forgotten about.

Carrot

Interesting finish brewing in the UAE between NZ and Pakistan, in what has already been an interesting series. NZ have done well there, and Pakistan have been pretty much unbeatable in the UAE recently. The Kiwis are a proper side these days. You might still back us to beat them most of the time, but they have a real maturity that we seem to lack. We have talent and a great when we’re hot, but absolutely awful when we’re not. It doesn’t seem to happen to them that they’re ever awful.

Carrot

That run out from Cummins just looks better and better on replay. You can argue that you have to get pretty lucky to hit one stump like that, but to be so sharp and athletic like that in the 89th over of what was a hot day is pretty amazing.

Tony Tea

As I have repeatedly said of Cummins - he makes things happen. Usually with the ball, of course, but Pat is a prime pole pincher.

I am Not Trampis

I have a beef with Fleming.
He claims Starc's first wickewt swung in and then seamed away.
Complete bollocks.
Starc was swinging the ball in and this ball simply bowled across the batsman. It went straight. It did not seam.
It is what a left arm fast bowler does quite a bit.
I was in my own modest way a left arm fast bowler.

Fleming should know this.

Can we simply admit the runout was a fluke. If Cummins had ten attempts to repeat that I reckon if he hit it once he would be doing well

Tony Tea

Run-outs, flukes, The Oracle.

I am Not Trampis

good first over. Are the Indians going to give us curry?

I am Not Trampis

Why do the Indians all have beards? Is this why the batsmen were not RAZOR sharp?

Tony Tea

Finch can GTFO.

I am Not Trampis

Speaking as a coach too many of us would have tried to change him. too front on , run up all over the place and few of us would have noticed that it all works. He gets surprising pace however it seems Koka Kholi has not outswing bowler.

Carrot

We needed a lead here, and we’re not going to get it - nothing substantial anyway, even if we do, which looks unlikely. Regardless of Sandpapergate, we’ve still got a very good attack and our first choice attack, but the Injuns could very easily get away from us here. Not sure they’ll throw their wickets away as much in the second innings, either.

I am Not Trampis

Indians did give us curry when we should have had a substantial lead and be in an unlosable position.

If Shami ever learns you wing the ball more and later to left hand batsman when bowling over the wicket we will be in trouble

Philsgone

We bolw and field with authority. We dont or cant bat that way presenly.

Philsgone

Also it apperars the only players to appear in ads are the bowlers - Gillette, Domain, energy. Not a batsman in sight. I guess the sponsers only use the players who will be present constantly. The batsmen may come and go this series.

Big Ramifications

You're terrible, Cheteshwar. Totally fooled me with the "not playing a shot" aspect of that Lyon LBW review. But yeah, bat was clearly tucked in being the leading pad.

Despite that, as I type, Dizzy in the comm box was criticising the umpire for the amount of "guesswork" involved, extrapolating the distance from hit pad to theorised hit wicket.... Which was my other concern. Cheteshwar was yards down the pitch.

Big Ramifications

bat was clearly tucked in being behind the leading pad

Not a good start to my summer of commenting on this blog. Sheesh.

Big Ramifications

Haven't seen a wicket today, sat my ass in front of the teev when Kohli was on 0 to witness a reasonably boring 71 run partnership unfold.... Light noticeably fading, 4 overs remaining until stumps....

Lyon bags Kohli caught in close bat-pad, gotta be happy with that.

Carrot

Got my customary two overs in before stumps. Curse this Northern Hemisphere bias of mine! Lyon bowling very well from the looks. Funny how he can sometimes look absolutely dog-ordinary and at other times genuinely world-class.

I still think we’re toast, though.

Tony Tea

We were cooked as soon as it looked like we would not post a lead.

Big Ramifications

Keep walkin' pal. That's out.

Big Ramifications

That happened 19 years ago. Good gravy! I must be like some kind of Doctor Who because that didn't happen 19 years ago.

Philsgone

Maybe CA has given the Indians their best chance to win here ever to boost the value of their ratings back in India - no day/night test, start in Adelaide, no Gabbe tesr. Limbo dancers dont even bend this far backwards. Also Starc looks off to me, his recent numbers are ordinary, and a drop in pitch for Perth might not help his cause.

I am not trampis

big Ram,

A batsman cannot get to a position that if he ducks the ball will hit the stumps. as the video shows it was a woeful decision.

Why was the umpire wearing a damned tie. It is Adelaide and it is stinking hot. why were the umpires attired so formally. Contrast with the poms

Carrot

Eh? By definition, it’s impossible to duck and for the ball to hit the stumps. Right. Chris Cairns, Chris Read, anyone? And it wasn’t THAT bad a decision. It could easily have been given not out and no one would have cared, but the side on view shows that there wasn’t THAT much in it.

Jeez you talk some shit sometimes, Trampis!

Carrot

Marsh gone, we’re done, and I’m off to bed.

I an Not tramps

look where he is hit. you are the one talking excrement. The ball is not going down. It is disgraceful.

DRS should only be used by umpires, for p[layers to use it means it is going against the spirit of cricket.

After the first day this test was Australia's for the taking indeed I would have wanted my money back after some of those Indian 'shots'

I am Not Trampis

Can we get rid of Mel McLaughlin under the bimbo rule.
She would have ruined my World Cup unless I changed back to Fozzy at half time and now she is showing her knowledge of cricket is right up there as well.

Alison Mitchell on the other hand is very good. wonderful caller and knows what questions to ask.

Harsha Bogle is wonderful to listen to as well.

Tony Tea

"A batsman cannot get to a position that if he ducks the ball will hit the stumps."

You'll have to expand on that one for me, Trampsy.

I am Not Trampis

The ball is on the up . It is not going down as the video shows. It was McGrath not Warne and it was a short ball.

The Umpire should take up gardening.

Tony Tea

Side on, Sizzlechest.

Philsgone

1 sundry in their first dig. 36 in their second dig. We lost by 31. Here endeth the lesson. I imagime Langer will be fuming about this,
Having said that, great fight by our blokes, this team has heart. Cant ask for more than that.
We took 20 wickets. Their 20 are a lot harder than our 20 to take. Another positive. 1-1- going to Boxing Day?

Carrot

*Sigh*. Go to a longer version of the dismissal on YouTube and watch it properly. It wasn’t the right decision, but it wasn’t a howler either. By the flight of the ball there really wasn’t that much in it.

Good Test. If every match goes down to a few dozen runs we’ll be in for a good summer. Both sides have plenty to work on, though - our batting is diabolical, and India should be concerned that they didn’t close out the game earlier. We can probably be reasonably pleased that we got as close as we did without a top order, but you’d think their batting will come good at some point and then we’ll be in trouble. It’s surprising that E-Kohli let it slip twice, particularly in the second dig when he was set - don’t expect that to happen again. I worry that we could be soundly beaten in this series and that this match was sort of our Edgbaston 2013; we very nearly scraped that one but were soundly beaten in the rest of the series. I just don’t hold out much hope for that batting. Khawaja and Marsh are our best and most senior batsmen. Not bad players on their day, but when they’re the best you’ve got against the best side in the world there’s definitely cause for worry.

I an Not trampis

I think we need to get real. India were dead and buried after the first day yet they won pretty easily. Imagine what occurs IF they bat responsibly!!

Batting Sharma will erupt in one test and Kholi must score big in a few as well.

Indian bowlers will get better. would be a lot better if they bowled over the wicket to Lefthanders. Shami for one would swing it back late to the left handers and they would create damage on the pitch to our lefthanders instead of to their righthanders

Tony Tea

There would have been hundreds of taller batsmen given out LB with exactly the same trajectory as the one which fired Tendulkar.

I am Not trampis

complete bollocks Tony.

It is a short ball for petes sake. you are saying the ball is falling. He was clearly hit on the shoulder. Look at McGrath appealing. He isn't confident. Even nowadays he is sheepish about the decision.

The decision was a shocker

Tony Tea

Trampy, you are clearly not reading what Biggy, Carrot and I are saying. Or you completely misunderstand what we wrote. Or you are deliberately misinterpreting us for argument's sake. Or you are going Derrida on our asses and extracting hitherto unrevealed meanings from our text.

I am not trampis

Sorry tonee,

I am not by lingual
