No apologies from me, but Steve Smith may want to apologise for losing a series after rashly claiming the momentum, or Virat Kohli may want to apologise for losing a series pretty much everyone expected India to win 4-0.
Or, like Nagpur in 2004, is Virat Kohli going to do a Ganguly and refuse to play on a greentop? A pace-friendly pitch for the deciding Test in 2004, a pace-friendly pitch for the deciding Test in 2017. To quote Carlos Santana: "Those who cannot remember Nagpur are condemned to repeat Dharamsala."
Every member of this team has made a dramatic contribution at some stage. Except one. Time to step up Mr Warner.

Brilliant riposte! And a pretty good opening to the day's play...
Posted by: Patard | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 02:06 PM
e-Kohli out.
Which is a shame, because he has been a cheap wicket in this series.
Posted by: m0nty | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 02:19 PM
Warner dropped first ball of the Test! We have got a live one here. Hopefully that swarm of killer bees from Thailand doesn't wander over.
Posted by: m0nty | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 03:10 PM
Dropped first ball, he will now go on to top score in this innings.
Posted by: Philsgone | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 03:36 PM
Cow Corner now charging the spinners trying to tonk them out of the attack. It's not Perth, Davey.
Posted by: m0nty | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 04:00 PM
Batting like it's an ODI. Too fast, slow down!
Posted by: m0nty | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 04:09 PM
Warner failed to cash in. Again.

Posted by: Patard | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 06:15 PM
never a truer word spoken Patard. Once he gets a good score should drop him immediately. Looks like I called Cow Corner a little early on the top score too...
Posted by: Philsgone | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 06:20 PM
We have lost 3/24. Will we make 200?
Posted by: m0nty | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 06:39 PM
Pitch has hypnotised us into a state of wrongful mastery.
Have to dig ourselves out of this hole, now.
Posted by: Patard | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 06:43 PM
Maxwell is a joke who should never represent Oz again. This is looking dire.
Posted by: Patard | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 07:01 PM
To be fair, the last two wickets fell to very good bowling.
Wade being left-handed might help, here.
Posted by: Carrot | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 07:02 PM
Steve Smith, absolutely mental figures lately. Will he credit the Dalai Lama for this one, I wonder?
Posted by: Carrot | Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 07:08 PM
Nothing at all to do with Dalai Lama and 100% to do with the last of ...something else
We are watching here the end of Australia

Pretty rubbish scorecard when you consider that it includes a ton and two fifties. Smith, Warner, Wade - fuck all. I'm not sure we should abandon hope just yet, though. There's plenty of time to get something out of this match.

Last I heard we were 3 for 150 (after being 1 for 131 at lunch and retaining the BorG). My phone then carked it and I was spewing when I got home and saw we were all out 300 after being ambushed by a newbie.
Posted by: Tony Tea | Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 11:27 AM
That newbie also coached by Warne: Kuldeep Yadav given tips by Shane Warne before game-changing Test debut
Kuldeep started the slide by dismissing David Warner with a flipper that he learned from Warne during the first Test in Pune.
"It's fun to learn it from him and then dismiss batsmen from his country itself," Kuldeep said in an interview translated from Hindi.
No doubt about our Warney. Shitbags Oz constantly, promotes his mates at our detriment, and coaches the opposition to get us out.
Thanks, Warney.

Good news is that a thunderstorm is predicted for day 4 and a shower for day 5.
Posted by: Patard | Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 12:02 PM
Well theres always the "lets see how many they get" card.
Posted by: Philsgone | Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 01:17 PM
Excellent bowling from Hazo to Vajayjay. Persistence pays off nagging away for it.
Posted by: Patard | Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 03:45 PM
1st drop of the day. Renshaw's not having a good Test.
Posted by: Patard | Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 03:51 PM
Lippy you fucking beauty!

Nice Garry! Spun right off the blister.

SOK has been rubbish in this spell, though. TIme for the new ball.
Posted by: Carrot | Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 09:50 PM
Take the fvcken new ball Flasheart. Just gave up 19 runs in two overs being too cute.
Posted by: m0nty | Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 09:51 PM
Oh Renshaw, what have you done?? Again!
Posted by: Carrot | Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 09:57 PM
Bloody hell.
Posted by: m0nty | Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 09:58 PM
Renshaw? More like Renfield.
Posted by: m0nty | Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 10:02 PM
We are still behind after day two, but not by much. Win another session and we're in front again.
Posted by: m0nty | Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 10:24 PM
We needed that wicket at the close of play. That probably would have put us on top. These two could be a nuisance, we need an early wicket tomorrow.
So far this match has been symbolic of the series so far, i.e. no-one has had anything like the ascendancy. 10 or 20 runs and/or an expensive over or two really make a difference. We bought those late wickets in a way - Lyon was bowling hand grenades, but SOK was getting taken to at the other end.
Let's see if India can perform like this in our backyard. I don't think they can. Do away goals make us the better side, then?
PS - #1 priority for Australian cricket in the next year or so - or maybe 10 years or so, come to think of it: keep Pat Cummins fit.
Posted by: Carrot | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 12:50 AM
Along with Koo, Pattinson, Haze and every other fast bowler who draws breath. I still reckon we have the worst record for keeping fast bowlers on the pitch. Broad/Anderson have played a lot more cricket than any of our fast bowlers over the last 2 years. Hot summers? Poor medical advice? Drop in non responsive wickets demanding more overs and longer spells? There needs to be an investigation.
Posted by: Philsgone | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 08:29 AM
"Renfield" is a good call.
Posted by: Tony Tea | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 10:10 AM
The Varks have had a shit run with injuries lately too IIRC. Steyn is probably going to have to retire, admittedly he is pretty old. Philander had a shoulder, ABDV has missed a lot of cricket though that may be more shits-cracking than injury.
NZ also without Boult and Southee at the moment.
Posted by: m0nty | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 12:12 PM
Too bad we didnt clean them u 50 runs ago.
Posted by: Philsgone | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 04:51 PM
We are well behind the eight ball here. Can't rely on Smith to score a big ton every innings. Warner also unlikely to back up his 50. I foresee doom.
Posted by: m0nty | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 05:34 PM
Pray for 1) we can last the day 2) torrential rain.
Posted by: Patard | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 05:39 PM
Warner cuts his first ball to the third man ropes. Hmm.
Posted by: m0nty | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 05:54 PM
Effectively 3/5 at the midway point of the Test. We are so fvcked.
Posted by: m0nty | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 06:48 PM
By the way, our no. 6 allrounder has bowled around a dozen overs in 4 test matches. If this isnt the best reason to pick a batsman at no.6, I'll give up following cricket and watch the netball. Which is a bloody good game and we win more often. Has anyone asked Smivvy why he doesnt bowl his allrounder?
If we get 150 ahead it wont be enough, but with Pat Cummins throat balls it might be fun to watch.
Posted by: Philsgone | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 07:04 PM
"Good news is that a thunderstorm is predicted for day 4 and a shower for day 5." Fingers crossed

Marshmellow dismissal.
Posted by: nick | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 07:41 PM
Looks like all our hopes rest on Maxwell now. Feels funny writing that. He's done well so far, though.
Posted by: Carrot | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 07:43 PM
Just don't want us to be all out today. If the last 5 can see out the day and get 120 I'd be stoked.
Posted by: Patard | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 07:47 PM
This will be over by stumps.
Posted by: m0nty | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 07:53 PM
Fvck me that was not out by any definition other than the bullshit DRS rules.
Posted by: m0nty | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 08:24 PM
Remember when Smith was LB skipping down the wicket in Perth? Another statement decision by ambitious Muppet umpires.
Posted by: Tony Tea | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 08:57 PM
Oh well. 2-1 loss. It was better than we thought it was going to be.
Posted by: Carrot | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 09:44 PM
I suggest Australia drop the idea of an all-rounder in the team and select a greenkeeper.
Posted by: Professor Rosseforp | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 09:45 PM
Farken momentum claimer.
Posted by: Tony Tea | Monday, March 27, 2017 at 10:17 PM
Must admit to feeling a bit gutted, here. Not only because we're going to lose, but also because it's been a fantastic series and it's nearly over. Only Test cricket can do this for me - I felt the same way last European summer when Pakistan played England and made it to number one. Can't we dispense with every other series and just keep playing this one?
Can't hide from the fact that I'm disappointed with the result, though. We have played so well, and have come so close. It's so cruel that we only needed a few more things to go our way and we could be walking away with the series. Renshaw's drop last night off Cummins is a good example, as is maybe Maxwell's elbee today. That's cricket, though - and sport and/or life.
Really happy with the team we've got though, the thinking and the set-up. We haven't only played good cricket, we've played intelligent cricket. If we want to be the best side in the world, we need to do this away from home more often. If we keep Cummins and Starc fit, and tinker away with other things like Marsh versus Khawaja, surely we'll be doing well in the future though. It's really exciting that Cummins is back in the side, and same goes for Maxwell for mine. If he manages to crack Test cricket he could be absolute dynamite, and so good for the game.
It's been a pleasure following it all here, too! What would we do without the AGB? Many thanks Tones, and all.

There will be a twist in the tail of this game yet. Just not a big enough twist for us to win it.

Wet dish cloth of a finish.
Posted by: Tony Tea | Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 05:07 PM
If the only lesson we learn from this series is that we need to play 6 specialst batsmen, then a 2-1 loss will be worth every cent the cost of sending MMarsh and Big Show to India business class.
Posted by: Philsgone | Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 05:08 PM
What a great series! It certainly deserves to be up there with India 2001 and Ashes 2005 - but a little bad taste in the mouth from Kohli and the BCCI whining while they're winning. Perhaps Kohli will mellow with age. Perhaps not.
Posted by: Nick | Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 07:35 PM
Kohli clearly has issues. He's not right in the head.
Posted by: Tony Tea | Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 10:10 PM
Pat Howard reappointed for another two years. On what basis has he been reappointed. Greater success overseas - no. Better management of player injury - no. Improved focus on first class cricket in Australia - no. Please explain Mr Sutherland, because
I cant work it out
