[Fairfax Cricket] will be led by Tim Lane, a Fairfax Media columnist and the former voice of cricket on the ABC who calls AFL on 3AW, and Melbourne-based commentator and journalist Bruce Eva, with another Fairfax columnist Dean Jones and former fast bowler Damien Fleming.

Ten years ago the Australian Test team was dominant, but now we cannot afford cheap wickets, which, at the drop of a bat, prompt massive collapses. So fingers crossed Tim has lost his magic touch for taking Aussie wickets.

Evenings with Mark Fine was recently dealt a HUGE BLOW when the 'All Sport Super Quiz' was taken off the air, thanks to a handful of callers that made derogatory comments towards Fine's momma.

Before its removal, the quiz saw members of the public showcase their sporting knowledge and, at times, their knowledge was such that an induction to the quiz's hall of fame was in order. Two of the most famous inductees were Luke from Coburg and BENNY FROM BOSNIA.

Listeners were OUTRAGED by the cancellation.

To return to your posting, 10 years have passed since Lane left the ABC. I'd imagine the kids are adults by now. You may not be aware that Lane was a widower and raised his daughter as a single parent. I'd surmise that when he entered another relationship, he decided to make it a priority. Makes sense to me.
