Apropos, the wife just asked me why I am not watching the cricket.

Tony

My wife will soon be asking me why I am not listening to the cricket, too.

In days of yore, the charm of cricket on TV, like the game itself, lay in its languorous pace. It didn't command you to listen. On weekends, on holidays and under the airconditioner, you could read a book, have a nap, lie in a hammock or tend to a sausage while the game hummed in the background.

Yes, that's it exactly. The way I remember a hot summer's day at my grandparent's house with the radio on in the background as they dozed.

The Maxwells and Mitchells themselves do too much SCREAMING to ensure any calm and serene approach to the arvo.

New ball is working out exactly as planned.

Whoops, wrong thread.
