Pat who never admits when he's wrong

But I do know where it came from dammit! It came from Victoria!!!

I've heard Lonny but don't like to us it. Vics also say "Cass-tel-main" when they mean Carsle-main.

South Ozzies say "pay" when they mean pie. And they eat Villis halal pays and sausage rolls.

Pat who never admits when he's wrong

Boganup, love it.

Tony

"I've heard Lonny but don't like to us it." No one is getting out of that sentence alive.

Pat who never admits when he's wrong

There's a Paris in NSW and a Texas. There's also an "Old Darky's Creek" runs along the Putty Road. Must have been very dark I assume, which made it difficult for old people to see what they were killing.

Pat Chomsky

In SA you pie for your pay.

True.

Tony

South Aussies have trouble with "l" They say "foopbaw" instead of football and "schoow" instead of school.

2BarRiff

Speaking of "Old Darky's Creek", does anyone know the origin of the town name "Corrigin"?
It's supposedly an Aboriginal word with a meaning no-one knows, but, when reversed, the name can refer to a local geological formation.

Pat Chomsky

Not sure about Corrigin but I have been to Kickaginalong. It's an ancient Aboriginal word for "after drinks entertainment".

Tony

Even Wiki does not know the origin of Corrigin.

m0nty

Pay (pie?) that, from the Croq mailbag:

Rahul: "@don: We'll built a statue of VVS at Eden Gardens for his achievements. But cant keep on dragging the statue on every tour!!"
Tony

Would have been better as a limerick.

Tony

E-Kohli run out

"THESE AUSSIES! THEY NEVER MISS!

Tony
54.6 Siddle to Kohli, OUT, oh well, that is the last thing India needed, a run out off the final delivery of the penultimate over of the day trying to protect the nightwatchman, unbelievable.
m0nty

I was going to compose a limerick, but then I remembered Croq has made me dislike limericks.

Tony

Crock's limerick fest was embarrassing.

Pat Chomsky

e-Kohli desperately tries to salvage his situation but it's too late! He's caught short! The scene should be censored from Indian Younglings eyes. It's a mess. India in diarr straits here. Will Oz get the extra half hour to clean it up?

Tony

Steve Waugh's red towel would have come in handy, Andy.

m0nty

Consecutive 0-4 whitewashes for Fletcher. Couldn't happen to a more miserable old bastard.

Pat Chomsky

Boo, hiss. 4 wickets would have been easy.

m0nty

My main problem was getting something else to rhyme with Laxman, other than batsman.

Tony

Taxman?

m0nty

Ooh, good one.

Pat Chomsky

Who's to blame for e-Kholi's soiled crease?

Tony

Question for the cricket intelligentsia: How was Hussey's Eagle Eye "Hitting"?

2BarRiff

Cracks, man.

Tony

Sumptuous: "Sachin is a dichotomy." I don't agree to me.

Pat Chomsky

What I want to know is what "cameleerers" have to do with the Ghan railway? Is "cameleerer" code for a career in camel rooting or camel shoeing? Does a camel get shoed or is that a form of cameleerer foot fetish?

So many questions, so little time.

Tony

Well, where does the camel toe go?

Pat Chomsky

In the cameleerer's photo album by the sounds of it.

I'm just glad they're not camelrearers. I'd balk at that. So would the camel I imagine.

Pat Chomsky

Question for South Australians: Would you pie to watch a cameleerer?

Tony

Would they leer to watch a camel pie?

Pat Chomsky

No wonder camels instinctively spit in your eye. Must be an evolutionary dual purpose. If you miss you've at least got some lube on the cameleerer.

Pat Chomsky

not to mention even in Kenya and Bangladesh

That "even" sounds suspiciously racist to me.

The Mongrel

Went to an Australia Day do yesterday.

I'm chatting to a lady who does some work for a Sydney Council. So far so normal.

Then a tall block rocks up. The lady says "Let me introduce you to my husband - Darrell Hair".

Me: Not THE Darrell Hair. I didn't know you were going to be here.
Darrell: When my name is advertised in advance as coming to events sometimes there are bomb threats (this could have been tongue in cheek, but you never know).
Me: One of the cricket blogs the other day reposted a pic of Ricky Ponting being burnt in effigy (I should have mentioned AGB! Sorry Tone). I think you haven't really arrived until someone burns you in effigy.
Darrell: I sometimes think I should get a payment every time my effigy is burnt.
Me: Let me thank you on behalf of all true cricket supporters. You're pretty tall - you must have got a bit of bounce off the pitch when you were a young cricketer.
Darrell: I was a pretty ordinary cricketer.
Me: Can I get a pic with you so when my seven year old bends his arm I can threaten him with it?
Darrell: Sure, but I don't know what good it will do.
Me: Seven year olds are very credulous. So what are you doing now?
Darrell: The Police forces get me in sometimes to lecture the cadets on how to maintain integrity under pressure.
Me: None better for that.

On the way out my work colleague, who comes from overseas, said "who was that?" I put it this way - if the names of all the attendees at this event were circulated internationally (and there were some well-known local people there), Darrell Hair would win by streets.

Tony

Goats of scape and effigies galore:

Tony

Mongy, I suspect Darryl is a closet lurker here at the AGB, one of the few outfit that sticks up for him.

The Mongrel

I think history will be kinder to Darrell than the ICC was.

But then history is written by the victors. It couldn't be any meaner to him than the ICC anyway. ;-)

I got his business card. If I get the chance I will hire Darrell to address my work colleagues.

lou

Corrigin is on the way to Hyden. Anything that is on the way to Hyden is a bit of a dump. Hyden is a dump but has Wave Rock to show the tourists.

2BarRiff

Whoosh. We didn't lose a dead rubber?

Tony

Artfully carved dead rubber served with a side of whitewash.

Big Ramifications

Isn't there a Bogan in NSW?

According to an extremely brief search yesterday, one site suggests "bogan" comes from the Bogan River region in NSW. It also says that "bogan" is an Aboriginal term meaning "birthplace of a tribal leader."

Wikipedia says it has nothing to do with the Bogan River. Or Bogan Gate for that matter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogan_Gate

Bruce

And in other news, Zimbabwe are 13/64 chasing 450-odd.

Tony

16 for 92 now.

Professor Rosseforp

A propos of nothing, I couldn't come up with a witty comment on the Julia Gillard picture you posted, but the close-ups of her shoe-less foot served as a reminder of the connection between redheads and cankles. Must be a gene that connects them, as it's unusual to see a redhead with a shapely ankle. I speak from experience, being ahem, auburn, myself in younger days -- and now have log-legs, aka thankles

Tony

Baggy ankles:

bruce

That last half hour of English batting was utterly clueless.

The Mongrel

England bowled out for 72 chasing a modest total.

Last 11 deliveries read W . W . | 3 . . W 1 W | W

Vindicate

Time to give the pickets another coat of paint.

http://madmick3006.com/ahngallery/upload/files/2011-01/78ed63e1.jpg

That should do it.

Big Ramifications

Here's a conspiracy theory for you lot. I'm sick of hearing and reading the word "whitewash." It's everywhere. To the point of "they must be doing this on purpose."

I reckon Sports Media journalists are takin' the mick, tryin' to wind up Indians. In a "I didn't say monkey, I said maa ki" kind of way.

Madness!

Tony

Naaa... whitewash lost any insult value it may have once had after the West Indies "blackwashed" the Poms years ago.

Zod

Kneel before Zod.

Tony

Superman sure has made a lot of enemies - Big Dome?

Big Ramifications

The umpire was being sought for questioning but had gone into hiding, he said.

Tony

Drooling to go with an "Umpire Strikes Back" post, but you watch how many times that headline or pun appears in the next few days.

Big Ramifications

Totally missed that line of thought. I was trying to work the referral system into it. Or maybe a gag about the third umpire, or KFC Hotspot etc.

Tony

I'm trying to work the DRS line.

Professor Rosseforp

"Batsman retires hurt after being dismissed".
