Where's the upside in Ricky Ponting writing about Aussie cricket?
Australia is maintaining the rage for Ashes
THE whole idea of declaring and then enforcing the follow-on in Brisbane was to test ourselves and encourage an attitude of going in for the kill.

We might have won well at the Gabba, but we'll be going hard again when the second Test against the West Indies begins in Adelaide tomorrow.
Go hard, go early:
From what the Australian bowlers have delivered so far in this series it would be staggering if we managed to regain the Ashes in 2010/11. We just don't have the fire-power to win one more Test than England over the five Tests.
Fingers crossed for some significant improvement, development, consistency, accuracy, etc bewteen now and this time next year.
Typical display of NSW-centrism from Punter the Sydneyite. The NSW players are "in" the team and the Victorians are only "around" it. He gives a backhander to McKay but only after he makes it clear that Bollinger is his man. The unwarranted overpicking of ordinary NSW players is one big reason the Ponting era has been less than it could have been.

That's less my thrust than the sub-editor's "maintaining the rage". I just re-read the column and it's less aggravating than I first presumed.

Ha, ha. MJ is leading wicket-taker of the year and has mostly bowled utter tosh. Someone please put him down before I have a coronary. He WANTED Nash to get a ton, I'm bloody sure he did.

But, Vim, Studsy is the international cricketer of the year:
Yeah, I found that puzzling, too.
