On England's pleasant televisions seen?
England wins Ashes but God wins rating
In Britain, the last session of the fifth Test on Sunday night peaked at 1.9 million viewers, while Songs of Praise on another channel hit the high notes with 2.4 million.
That's in spite of the traditional inflation:
"40 Million see historic Ashes victory on TV"
The last session which got 1.8 million in viewers was a highlights programme since the Test series is only on Sky in the UK.
So if people were watching the match live on Sky in the local pub...it'd still be nowhere near 40 million.

40 million probably includes people all around the world. Or something. Or it's just the Murdoch rag talking bollocks as usual...
This Ashes series didn't get nearly as much attention over here as 2005. This is partially because it wasn't as good a series, but mostly because it was only on subscription TV.
