What better way to look forward to the 2009 Ashes than by looking back to the 2005 Ashes. This post is spot on:
Here are my top reasons why losing to England in 2005 was so hard to take:
Via Miss Field, who, emulating 2008 Melbourne Cup trainer Aidan O'Brien's pre-race instructions, has gone early: "We are going to win the Ashes."
If any single issue demonstrates the decline of Britain as a great power, it is the wanton distribution of imperial honours to cricketers who scrambled to victory in two test matches against the Australians.
Think of the many Britons in major conflicts who received not a cracker for much greater examples of gallantry.
Ironically it seems that, based on comments by people like Warne, that Australians have a greater regard for imperial honours than the British do.

Just remember the Poms batting lineup was as thin as I have ever seen it.
they did not have a spinner.
however they fielded superb and had two superb bowlers who could swing the ball orthodox and reverse in the same over.
The other bowlers supported them reasonably well.
to my mind in technical terms it was the second best series ( that series in India we lost was a cracker) however it was more enjoyable to watch
