Voges' catch was a beauty. He falls over the boundary, then NZ wins. I like how he stumbled after he threw it back to add to the theatre. Great debut by Moises. A 4 and 6 off Bracken by an unknown Kiwi to end the international Summer is fitting.

The Australian summer was summed up by the delivery from Steyn which got Clarke fair in the cods, causing him to double up in pain. As he's clutching at the groin he realises that he's out of his ground, which necessitates crawling on hands and knees to the safety of the crease. To me, the cricket this season was one long pain in the bollocks.

I thought the summer was summed up by us being bailed out by the rain in an already rain reduced match on Friday night and by NZ pulling defeat from the jaws of victory when they failed to reel in 20 odd with three overs to go and six batsmen still to come.

Elliott get a century the other day, right? How?

Voges catch was clever, but the initial take was a sitter, and he had plenty of time to size up his options. Tripping on the boundary rope injected the Entertainment Factor.

Bichel's catch was better.

Did Moises play? I don't think I ever saw him.

The Don has risen

Moises was picked to part to waves and keep the waves away until the game was over!!!

I have now observed Warner and can say his 'technique' is suited to the 20/20 rubbish however I cannot see him going very far in wither the pajama game or real cricket.

After last year's disgrace I enjoyed this year. There would have been more enjoyment with some decent cricket wickets.

The Aardvarks are on the rise and we are on the slide.

The Ashes does not appear to be a series between two highly skilled sides.

Tony Tea

If Straya was the ninth ranked cricket nation and England was the tenth, the Ashes would still be my favourite cricket series.

Bichel's was a cracker indeed. Haven't seen that one before. Much harder initially than Vogel's but V's was at a pivotal moment, 7.5/10 to Bichel's 10/10. Ch 9 probably don't show the Bichel one ad nauseum because they didn't televise the game. Expect plenty of Vogel replays in seasons to come.

Question - when do the summer's TV cricket rights come up for bidding? It seems Packer locked them in til the next millenium early in the piece. It should be bidded for every 5 years like in AFL. Keeps everyone on their toes.

Tony Tea

Channel Nine have the rites for ages. There's rock all chance of them ever splitting from CricAussie. That's one cosy relationship that is locked in in perpetuity, or more appropriately, ad nauseum.

Mind you, teenage white-trash Ten or just-like-Nine Seven doing the cricket could well be a case of "the devil you know". SBS and ABC don't have enough dough. And Fox are locked out by the siphon.

Steve Waugh's catch at the SCG running back under the sightscreen would have to be up there... though youtube is blocked at work so I'll have to check out the other one tonight.

SBS have the rights to this summers Ashes..

Pity, Ch 10 does the Beach Cricket so well....

The fact Graeme Smith turned out to be a half decent bloke instead of the plonker everyone thought he was is as big of a low light as you can get. Who do we hate on for the Safas now? Herschelle in the boring one dayers? Bring back Andre Nel for christ's sake.

Lets just hope we have a poor SA tour, and go into the Ashes like we did in 1989, with the "worst side ever to tour England" as was bandied about at the time. And hope this young Hughes turns out to be a superstar. Infact, the 1989/2008 comparison might be a good one to make going forward.

Adsy

Or 2009 even.

The Don has risen

Thommo's catch at the SCG against the Windies was a blinder as was Dyso's at the same ground and the same Opposition years later

Bruce

Good point Adsy.

Not only are Dumminy and De Villiers gun young players - they are also erudite and downright classy. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them.

Tony T

But not too much more of them.

Bruce

I will accept a fighting knock in a losing cause.
