Meanwhile, back at the selective narrative, grandpa AGB takes time out from nationalism, misogyny, homophobia, cruelty, racism and singing It's a Long Way to Tipperary to overpower his deadly treadly.

"I adore men. I hate bullies, homophobes, thugs, racists, misogynists and rapists in the name of war."
I thought she said she adores men?!

Apparently she hates racists too. I feel so offended.

The day I watch a Channel Nine 'debate' is the day I... you know, I can't thing of anything catastrophic enough to cause me to watch one.

CD was not sacked because of her comments, she was sacked because she was being paid too much. The Age used her tweets as an excuse to dump her and help balance their books.
According to one side she is vile, stupid, childish, vulgar, loud, desperate to be famous, will say anything for attention, etc.
According to the other side she is edgy, lashes sacred cows, etc. John Faine on 774 (where, not surprisingly, Dev works) interviewed her this morning and proclaimed her a "force of nature".
According to Dev herself she tells "grown-up jokes" and "pushes the envelope", which is almost as funny as her "I was taken out of context".
In the end it's a toss-up: lame self-justifications v. professional outrage.

Maybe it was an act of God.

Speaking of "taken out of context" and acts of God:

I like the "she's a comedian, comedians are always pushing the boundaries" line of reasoning. Same excuse is given for Wil Anderson.
But to be a comedian, first people have to laugh at your jokes. If people aren't laughing then you aren't a comedian even if you like to describe yourself as one. What you now are is an obnoxious twit.
If we take the "comedian's push boundaries" definition then Stalin and Hitler must have been first class laffs guys.

Does Twitter have a context?
Posted by: Monsieur Patard | 05 May 2010 at 12:42
When it comes to CD advertising her shows, yes.
Posted by: Tony | 05 May 2010 at 12:52
When I here the word comedian, I reach for my gun.

btw Tones, how do you know that "CD was not sacked because of her comments, she was sacked because she was being paid too much. The Age used her tweets as an excuse to dump her and help balance their books." ?

M. Pat,
Beep Throat.

Just checked out her home page. A professional shot of her in bed with her 10 year old son, by the looks of it [after you navigate past the "BUY TICKETS FOR MY SHIT! click to continue to main page" page].
The pendulum has swung way too far with the Christian bashing IMHO. What sort of ADULT would PAY MONEY to go to a play* about the non existence of God? Shit, that debate ended 20 years ago for me. Sounds suspiciously like a left wing tugfest to me.
God Is Bullshit That's The Good News
I mean, seriously?
......And I bet it's the Christian God. I bet she hasn't got the rocks to be starring in and promoting a play that say that about Allah.
