Just cause she got down on bended knee and accepted all he had to give doesn't make her worth 200 million, Brownie. I know this must disappoint your life long goals but, thank me now for saving you wasted time.
pat commented on 'MND: WTF?'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341cb34453ef00e5520045fe88342008-04-19T12:16:49Z2008-04-19T12:16:49Zpathttp://www.carbunclesoul.blogspot.com150 million quid on lawyers sure beats 50 million on a one legged whore any day.
150 million quid on lawyers sure beats 50 million on a one legged whore any day.
brownie commented on 'MND: WTF?'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341cb34453ef00e551ea444d88332008-04-19T11:54:52Z2008-04-19T11:54:52Zbrowniehttp://bwican.blogspot.com/... der, yeah ... he spent 150 million quid on lawyers to make sure he only had to give his...
... der, yeah ... he spent 150 million quid on lawyers to make sure he only had to give his ex-wife 50 million instead of the 200 million she asked for.

Health is a such a stab in the dark.

MND has an annual 'Day' when volunteers sell forget-me-not badges to raise research funds.
SirPaul McCartney probably doesn't ever give them a donation.
Tony T commented on 'MND: WTF?'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341cb34453ef00e551c72af988332008-04-11T04:38:13Z2008-04-11T04:38:14ZTony Thttp://aftergrogblog.blogs.com/agb/Thanks for that info, Chris, it's fair to say one of the few things I'd previously heard about such things...
Thanks for that info, Chris, it's fair to say one of the few things I'd previously heard about such things is "How come Stephen Hawking's lived so long?"

My mate is the first friend I've had who has succumbed to such a disease. Much like the famous American baseballer Lou Gehrig - ironically nicknamed the Iron Horse because he never missed matches with injury - he was a fantastic all-round athlete and especially a good golfer. So he got a huge shock when, upon consulting a doctor about a weak arm, he was told he had "two years".

I immediately flew over to see how he was holding up and he was still largely active and also fantastically positive. But when my dad caught up with him six months later, he was immobile and in a wheelchair.

Despite his rapid decline he always held out hope that there would be a cure or breakthrough just around the corner. Sadly, that was not to be; as you say, progress in nerve disease research seems reasonably slow.
Chris Fryer commented on 'MND: WTF?'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341cb34453ef00e551c7045888332008-04-11T03:52:22Z2008-04-11T03:52:22ZChris Fryerhttp://www.chrisfryer.com/Sorry to hear that you had a friend who died of MND.
As you know I have a muscle wasting disease of my own - Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). When I get down I try to remember that are many people who are worse off than me, such as those afflicted with motor neurone disease.

I will always be able to talk and I will always able to blink my eyelids. People with MND can get locked into their bodies unable to communicate - this will never happen to me. With my disease the smaller the muscle the less it is affected - this means all my facial muscles and the ones responsible for speech and my hands remain relatively unaffected.

Finding the gene responsible for MND is a big step, but it is only one step on the long road to finding a cure. They discovered the gene responsible for DMD nearly 20 years ago and only now are they doing clinical trials for a treatment based on that discovery.
