Completely one sided but entertaining nonetheless. With the exception of the inexplicable focus on the love affair of the chubby, goateed, zealot lawyer.
It was a bit like the curate’s container – good in parts. There were some great ‘blokes shouting at eachother’ scenes, the little bit of biffo shown looked pretty realistic and I liked how Corrigan was played as a cool customer zipping around on his bike and delivering very dry one-liners. “76 pricks? That is a lot of pricks.”
But what was with all the scenes of domestic life? They should have called it “Bastard Daddies: He’s always late picking me up from school.” And as for showing that lawyer’s love life, isn’t that what The Animal Channel and Discovery are for?
But for me, the real highlight was Bill Kelty’s wig. It should get its own series.
Also Tony, in one scene I spotted a container bearing the number 32.
The ABC should commission a show in which dockers race each other to see which shift can shift the most c-tainers. All it needs is a name...
By the way, I watched Red And Blue Murder. A show in which the Doggies scored at least 15 out of their 16 goals from dodgy free kicks, at a rough estimate.
By the looks of it Tone the Dees gave Aker the "Green Light" in the last quarter. He pretty much mugged you and ran away with the game in a non descript sports bag after being a passenger for the first 3 qtrs.
Alas, that's a pretty fair call. It seems to be Melbourne's role in the comp to play out-of-sorts stars back into form. Worked for Darcy, too.
In short, though, it's the sort of game you win when you're having a good season and very much the sort of game you lose when your season's in the dunny.
Pity we couldn't call on Christopher Dale Pickett to sort out a few Dogs and Maggot McLaren.
I'd suggest it doesn't really matter if a show is biased. Afterall, if it's mostly about unionists doing their thing, it's mostly about unionists doing their thing.
But I'm sure there are plenty of viewers out here who would enjoy their taxes be spent on a show sympathetic to the bosses. I mean, you never know, that mightn't be as dreary as it sounds.
So, how about the ABC make a miniseries all about 'wronged' bosses.
Bit shitty I missed the second part actually, while showing a completely one-sided view (hey it's the ABC, whoda thought?) it was entertaining enough to make me want to see the rest of it.
Gotta feel for ya Dees there Tone, I tipped against em but by fuck I was screaming me tits off at em in the last 5 mins to kick a goal and finally win one.
And just where was Chris Heywood?

Hold the Big Aussie Bill Hunter gags, too, will ya.

That was just plain nauseating.

Goatees - nauseating on their own.

I ended up watching Blue Murder on Foxtel. Quality. Aussie. Flick.

Best. Ever. Aussie. Flick.

I'd question the timing by the ABC, but there's really no question at all, is there?
Posted by: fm | 14 May 2007 at 14:22
Not just Bill Kelty's wig.
Greg Combet's wig should star in the mini-series too.
Those two wigs would have a lot to talk about.

Nora: Make it a reality show and call it Wig Brother.
Posted by: Tony T. | 14 May 2007 at 14:47
That, of course, is the Wig Brother in the Wig Comrade solidarity sense. Not the moron idiots sitting around a house sense.

I caught "You Can't Stop the Murders" on SBS and my rating - 4/5! Best Oz comedy ever. I know that's not saying much but there it is.

Never heard of it. I assume it's funnier than Bingles.

Non-dreary wronged-boss mini-series?
The Wrong Boss or Pick-a-Boss
or maybe On The Bosses

Embossed: the tragic story of a soft-hearted shirt manufacturer mistakenly murdered by disgruntled out-workers.

Get Shirty?

And its unbuttoned sequel: Be Cool.

Bossanova with the Stars...
Thought the 2nd half of BB was a lot stronger, some powerful moments.
Great performance by Jack Thompson.
