On seeing this paragraph the other day, I said to myself "Yes, that's right."
"The youngster [Michael Clarke] is at the first of the three stages of the sporting career. Cricketers start playing in their natural way, then discover the complications of the game and finally, if they make it, reach the simplicity that exists beyond complexity, whereupon they understand the things that are important to their game."
Anyway, Andrew Strauss, here's looking at you, kid.
I don't reckon he will bother targetting Vaughn now. If he wasn't Skipper he would be a target, but his test average is plummetting fast. But what about Pieterssen? Averaging 150 in the pyjama game, he's being talked up for the test series against us and Bangladesh in the winter. Has a tendency to lean towards leg and whip through mid-wicket. Viv Richards did it but he was unique. So Peterseen, Vaughn, Strauss AND Flintoff in Pigeons range ? I actually reckon that Gillespie will be top gun on this tour- what do you reckon?
The "simplicity that exists beyond complexity"? Who wrote that, Nietsche ? Sounds like Old Spanky has discovered existential philosophy. Or he's talking garbage.
