Newsy things bore me lately.
I could do the cricket. Michael Slater, for instance. "Now I'm a commentator I can be controversial; Murali doesn't throw." ** Well, whoop-dee-doo, Slogger; best not jeopardize that Asian TV gig. How about the tennis? Afterall, they're banging away about 200 metres down the road. The other day ABC radio, 3AW and the papers were all over Alicia Molik's bogus line-call. Pity Channel Seven weren't; barely mentioned it. Channel Seven news NEVER mentioned it. Just like Channel Nine and the cricket. It'll be a cold day in Madras before they approach a dicey topic. If you don't wish to read harsh language look away now; Official Broadcaster!
How about politics? I used to do heaps but now I'm just not interested. Although I DID hear some insider dish. It seems there's been an election called in WA. No, that's not the hot news, that's been in all the papers. No, my dish relates to the polls.
There's been much speculation as to the result with the polls showing The Liberals in with a big chance. Plenty articles have suggested The Libs will get up. As I've been told, though, both Liberal and Labor polling indicate little vote-shift in the electorates that matter. Barring a major mis-step on the hustings, both sides expect Labor to hang on.
That is all. I'd better go to work now.
** Paraphrased from The Fox Cricket Show.
I wondered why there has been no AGBlogging on Hawkeye's form at the Tennis.

As it happens, Boynty. I was watching the tennis yesterday and there was a close call which went to Hawkeye. It sure 'nuff looked close but Hawk showed it clearly out. "Well, it looked closer than that," remarked Drugs Courier doudtfully.
Bruce adoitly changed the subject.

"Newsy things bore me lately." Totally agree.
I court the end of the tennis match between the sexy Russian thing and the beast from the US and was awed into silence by the howling shrill cries and moans. Next time I'm gonna turn the picture off and imagine a lezbo stick flick sorta thing.
Bruce ruined it - as always - with his "there were two winners out there today." Sigh. Turn it off, have another beer.....

Pat, Seven's commentary has always been so bloody sucky. That's possibly down to Bwucey. The fact is, they miss McEnroe. Drugs Courier's OK, so's Martina, although she does rabbit on a bit. But neither can replace JPM. Cashy was Ok, too. He used to say the first thing came to mind. Very entertaining.
By the way.
I'm putting money on Drugs Courier and John Alexander having a punch-up before the end of the tourny.

SM, I'd forgive your gloating if I knew what you were gloating about.
The Kinks inspire me, Addy. They're on the stereo right now.

I reckon our elections are marginally more interesting than the bloody Tennis..and that IS saying something!!
Speaking personally, with all the political in-fighting and arguments within the 'Liberal' party, i may have better things to do on Feb 26. It's all passin' me by- this election will be decided in the outermost, most distant parts of this great State- Labor clinging on by a thread and with the problems over water & Electricity supply. But, as i stated, the biggest problem for the Coalition remains the fractious Liberals- they will cause the most arguments.
Vote for another party? Well, the Greens began by gaining good support initially, but seemed to have faded away. But would they ever gain credibility- i reckon not. Our Zonal system is deffo going to have the final say....

I've always found WA politics to be a strange beasty. Dunno why, but it seems a rather more volatile brew than the rest of the states. I can't back that up with evidence, mind you. It just seems that way.
Maybe because I lived in WA for so long and have met quite a few of the main protagonists. I find it hard to believe they'd ever end up having anyone vote for them. Prime dickheads; some of them.

OK Tony, Lemme spell it out. But only coz you asked ...
You seem to be saying that M. Slater can only think the way he does (ie NOT the way Tony does) becozzz he's sold out. Did you ever consider that maybe he's finally free to speak what he thinks because he's not beholden to hometown yobs (Y-O-B-S) now that he's out ? Eh ? No need sling shit with the provincials at the Wacca Wacca Wacca Wacca Pub (wacca.wacca.wacca.wacca.wacca.wacca.pub.gov.aus) any more ?
Also, has any aussie have ever really suffered from speaking up -
1. Dennis Lillee has been talking trash for ever & ever about "subcontinentals". Has it hurt his chances with "asian tv" etc ? Boll**cks, he's practically an Honorary Citizen in India now. Permanent Perfesser at the MRF academy. TeeVee personality expert.
2. Everytime I visit the old country, lo there's Mr. Ian Chappell on radio frequency irritating the hell out of .... , & Steve Waugh all over the place. What a gyp, etc
3. More later ...
4. Jack Hobbs ... that's cricket ...

I'm sorry you totally miss my point, SM. Allow me to explain.
Slogger announces on The Cricket Show that now he's out of cricket he's free to make controversial statements. Then his big follow up to that is a statement that is NOT controversial at all.
He's not going to get into any trouble whatsoever saying Murali DOESN'T chuck. That's very much the party line.
By the way. I don't know whether or not Cricket Australia have any input into The Cricket Show, but of late, it's a very bland affair. Very much the puff-piecer.
