Yes, alright, I know it was released in 2001, but I first heard it this year.
Just look at the Meta Critic page. The hip young things are all over Internal Wrangler, giving it rave reviews. While down the bottom, the corduroyed old farts and hacks at NME, Rolling Stone and Q are sticking the boots in. Mildly, mind you, but they're none too fond of it.
If Q bag something, it's just gotta be good. On the other hand, I'm no great fan of Loveless.
100 - Splendid - Absolutely essential! It's a coming-out party on the level of My Bloody Valentine's Loveless.
...
60 - Q Magazine - Though not without merit, the reliance on other people's melodies (and words on the Caroline Says-pilfering Distortions) can become trying after a while.
I reckon I'm somewhere in between, but tending toward the top. Sure I've heard it all before, but so what, it's rare when I haven't. And anyway, I like the way it all sounds.
AGB Rating - Distinction
I'm no great fan of Loveless.
That's crazy talk. Next you'll be telling me you don't like Mogwai.
We need to sit down and have a chat. Or an arm wrestle. Your call.

Loveless is noise, but I like Mogwai. Wouldn't compare them with MBV, though.
I call a Waits Throwing Contest.

You're on. Can we broaden the rules of the game to include Terry Waite too? I'd love to chuck him.

The hostage guy?

That's the bastard. Have you heard his latest album? Terrible. Although (Chained to the) Radiator Song had its charm I suppose.

Apparently he accompanied the band by tapping a spoon against said radiator.

I've been waiting for you to do a Clinic post, Tone. Nearly missed it.
Clinic are wonderful. And fun. One of the few British bands worth listening to lately. Mainly cos they're not from London.
This year's Winchester Cathedral is worth a listen. But they do tend to be a bit samey - the albums all sound pretty similar. Wonderful anyway - Distinction++

I haven't head WC, Tim, but most reviews tend to rate it lower than IW. I guess they have the same opinion as you regarding "samyness".
It's not on my list of "to gets" but with music I'm always ready to be conviced.
