While I'm on about fillums, did I ever mention I love John Barry? And that The Persuaders has the best ever TV soundtrack? No? Well, I have now.
* The headline is DEFINITELY unintelligible to non-Australians.

I do like Tony Christie songs - they signify a time when Pommie telly was perfecting that combination of Yanqui glitz and Pommie campitude and every lad with a big voice, a body shirt and a romantic-but-butch oeuvre could ride home on a wave of feminine ardour (and, often as not, a storm of spontaneously discarded smalls). BUT - the sound of a healthy family lounge is now and has always been the Dr Who theme. The sound of a special evening (under a blankie, on the sofa and moving only to give or receive the Jatzes) is now and has always been that of a time when Pommie campitude still reigned unchallenged. I speak, of course, of The Avengers theme.

Was The Persuaders the Tony Curtis?Roger Moore effort? If so, I only remember the cars. I liked them. I was very young and easily impressed.

P.S.
The headline is probably unintelligible to most Australians under forty, too.

Rob, I can remember when Dr Who scared me witless, then I just loved it for the ... err ... I dunno ... I just did. The Avengers rocked to, and like The Prisoner, always had interesting guest spies and baddies.
Dirk, you know we play to a select crowd here at the AGB. We especially appreciate readers who spot the more obscure puns and feel no need to water them down to pander to a wider audience. There'll be no audience prompts here.

Well I'll just ease my way over to a table in the corner, tilt my beret slightly further down over my eyes, have a glass of the house red and fire up a gauloises.
