Interesting how things converge.
Yesterday I was reading that Bonnie Raitt is playing Sydney in February. Not that I'm a fan, Grammy winner says it all.
Today Tim Blair writes of alien snubbery - Austin again - as Bonnie teams with Dennis Koo-Sin-Itch. (Thanks P.J)
However, waaaaaaaay more significant than her "Adult Contemporary" music and her bogus politics, last night I watched Caddyshack again. Whilst looking up the cast on the IMDb I discovered Bonny was married to Danny "In The Lumber Yard" Noonan.
How 'bout that?
I came across Bonnie Raitt's first album a few years ago and was really disappointed that such a likely lass had somehow become a big-haired grammy-award winning overproduced dull-rocker. Wonder what happened? The first album's really fantastic - great blues standards & some of Raitt's own & this voice like a mellow version of Janis Joplin, & really raw... worthwhile listening to if you can find it.

"big-haired grammy-award winning overproduced dull-rocker"
Precisely absolutely rightly spot-on-ed-ly correct, Wen. Love your work!
I'm listening to that first album exactly as I type at the minute right now here at home in the present tense. Some great gear on it. Not to mention the musicians, Junior Wells, A.C.Reed and Willie Murphy.
Countrified, natural, hot, sloppy and rocky. Just how I like it. Right from the Steven Stills opener through to the Sippie Wallace closer. And her own songs are good too.
It's a cryin' shame so many potential guns turn in to sucky over-cooked blandoids.
