How long before this video appears on the net?
FIVE men arrested yesterday allegedly used a video camera to film sexual assaults on teenage girls at Schoolies Week on the Gold Coast. The five men, aged from 20 to 25, are all Brazilian on student visas.
They were arrested yesterday after allegedly filming up a teenager's skirt without her knowledge.
Police said a male companion of the alleged victim realised what was going on and confronted the men.
He was then chased and beaten with what appeared to be a garden stake.
The five have been charged with assault.
Police are examining the contents of seized videos to determine if indecent assault charges will be laid. A Queensland Police spokesman said it appeared indecent assaults and groping of young women had been filmed on video.
The arrests came as the Australian Medical Association warned of drink-spiking after 16 girls fell victim at a Schoolies Week party in Brisbane.
Obviously unwanted attention is a bitch but somehow the issue's gotta get blurry around the edges when the whole objective of Schoolies Week is to get blind drunk and rooted ragged. And in all probability, stoned to the bejeezus-belt.

Note: It says: "In many instances", not, "all"!
But still, it's an interesting angle that Tony T. aluded to...

“What types of drugs are involved is also problematic. In many instances, alcohol may be the sole offending substance – when a perpetrator has doubled or even tripled the concentration in a single drink.
"With a lot of the drugs that are supposedly used, people would be collapsing in clubs or even dying," says Dillon. He cites the example of the drug gamma hydroxybutyrate, sometimes termed "grievous bodily harm". "GHB is a vile tasting, hideous-smelling thing, and a very, very dangerous combination with alcohol," he says.
He blames the culture of drinking in Australia and the changing patterns of alcohol consumption among young people, particularly females. A national study released yesterday shows an alarming surge in heavy drinking by teenage girls. Of the tests conducted by Hanson, 82 per cent returned positive readings for alcohol and 54 per cent had a blood alcohol concentration higher than 0.15 per cent.
"Young men and women are drink spiking themselves," says Dillon. "These alcohol sodas often have an alcohol content that is the equivalent of two beers and they are much easier to drink."”

Now a lesser person might make some tawdry comment about them merely looking out for some fellow country persons. Not me though.

Kids and booze ay, Big? Who'd a thought it. And as for those "alcohol sodas", we call it "Tart Fuel" around here.
I started late, I never touched booze until I was 14.
How come "Grievous Bodily Harm" is called GHB?
And Sedge, some lesser person just might make tawdry allusions to that in his headline.

There you go, just goes to show some people just don't read the headlines. Apologies, I should have known you had tawdry in you. Sometimes one doesn't see the bush for the trees. Consider me disallusioned.

Tony, GHB stands for Gamma Hydroxybutyrate. I had this argument with my junior designer, who takes all manner of junk. Turns out he was right. I kept saying 'no, dickhead, it's GBH'.

Thanks for clearing that up, Atari. I was operating under the same misapprehension as you were. And, it would seem, many people in the meja who always say GBH. That's the first time I've heard it called GHB.
