The worst part about that runout was that it was actually out. Buttler only knocked off one bail and they didn't check the replay from front-on to see if both were removed (even though from side-on it looked as much). There has been a lot of comically bad cricket at this tournament...

Tony Tea

Well I never. I thought one bail was good enough to "break the wicket". Must just be for bowled.

Tony Tea

By the way. The Bangers must be good things tonight.

gillysgone

and we re assert our authority by handing the Bangers a dose of look-at-us-we-are-good-again

Tony Tea

Beating the Bangers is merely this summer's after dinner mint. (The other three T20 losses were merely a soggy pavlova.)

I reckon we should make a stand and not attend this 2020 joke contest. Or send the womens team, they are better at it than the men. They repreent Australia dont they? Nothing in the rules that says you cant send a womens team is there? That way we define our interest in test and 50 over cricket. Mind you, that will stuff up CA's focus on the Big Bash

You on the sauce, Gilly?! That was hilarious.

Whilst I can't abide the various regional Twenty20 competitions, I actually quite like the international games, the World Twenty20 and the Champions League. Under-achieving heavyweights like Chris Gayle biffing some club cricketer out of the attack for the Thunder/Stars/Muddle-headed Wombats is one thing, but seeing the Dutch do well against the likes of South Africa and England is quite another. Because it's so short there's a certain FA Cup-style giant-killing factor which is really quite fun, and there's always the chance for someone to make a name for himself and get a contract, which gives him the opportunity to get experience that he can share with the rest of his associate mates.

It doesn't often work that way in practice - Dirk Nannes and Ryan ten Doeschate don't play for the Dutch anymore and any idiot can see that Tom Cooper won't hang around - but sometimes it does with players like Kevin O'Brien. On that basis, I think it's actually well worth watching, and even - hint, hint - following on the AGB!

Speaking of which. I saw this on Countdown and bought the album on the strength of the baritone dude going "hoom baa baa, hoom baa baa, hoom baa baa...."

It was a complete mind fuck. Radio DJs jibber jabbering between songs. First time I'd ever heard "scratching". Can't say I liked the album too much, but boy, I remember it.

ppps: Didn't know the Sex Pistols connection until years later.
