Good Mitchell is welcome back any time. Bad Mitchell...
Mitchell Johnson thought of quitting
MITCHELL Johnson revealed today he lost his love of the cricket and would have contemplated retirement had he not been sidelined from the game.
“The injury did come at the right time. I'd probably lost a bit of interest in playing the game. If I didn't get the injury, if I kept going, I could have got dropped and that could have been it. That (retirement) could have been on the cards for sure.
“I guess being away from the media helped a little bit, not copping it day in, day out. So that's been a bit of a relief.”
Saw this item on the news tonight. Response: Nooooooooooo!
Thought about quitting did he? Just about the first instance I have seen of Johnson thinking about anything.
Oh by the way, congrats on the little one, Tone.

Tone Loc, you've been absolutely on fire with the post titles lately.
"Dr Jekyll and Mr Wide" and "TAWNY PWNY" are in the Pantheon. Tawny got PWNED!!! I'm still laughing. At the title and the pwnage.
// can we rename Punter Ponting to Ricky Boynting for the remainder of his test career?
// just an honorary thing, like a testimonial year
// in honour of the mother of your child

Johnson's about four years old. I'm not sure that we want to go that far the other way in an attempt to balance the greybeards in the team.
Still, he makes for plenty of grimacing fun when he plays.

Thanks, Mong.
Exquisite p-shopping, Biggy. Nice use of the pointy hand. Nice curtains.
Lou, who would have thought after SA 2009 Johnson would be our very own Harmison.

By the end of the Ashes 2009, I think we all realised we had one of our own, didn't we?
If he ends up in the test team for the Ashes 2013, I shall go to the dentist and ask for root canal treatment without anaesthetic before the first test. Might as well get in some practise before hand.

I wonder if it will occur to anyone that ever since Pidge pulled the pin, Australian fast bowlers bowled best without Johnson.

Test cricket starting in England. Yay! It's overcast and the Windies are going to get rolled I reckon. It's Jimmy Anderson weather to a tee.

Oooooo... and it's on Foxtel. Winter nights with Test cricket - too good.

Jeez. Barry and Edwards must have been doing a fair piece of work practising playing late.

You might be right about Anderson, Lou.

He bowled beautifully early on, some of the balls were fantastic, but the others haven't got as much out of the conditions. I thought Barath looked good, shame he got out to that shot.

The surprise from Barath is he waited until after lunch to play a daft shot.
The ball to get Powell was insane, from over the wicket (to a l/h) pitching 3 inches outside off and coming back to take the stumps. No sane batsman would play at it; the rest would get bowled through the gate.

Yes that ball was completely impossible to survive.

Windies/Poms test is intriguingly poised, Poms lost two quick wickets before stumps to give the Windies a sniff - here's hoping they can rattle out the rest for an improbable win. Weather is good, Poms need 181, Windies need 8 wickets, and I have to work. Dammit.
BTW Tony what happened to the spam-prevention measure that used to be here - the graphic with the warped words on it? It's annoying but personally I'd rather use it than have spam bots making a mess of the place.

V, don't know what happened to the warped words. They seems to be everywhere else. Bit of a pain when you can't read the letters, but I been copping heaps of shit comments lately, so I don't mind if the filter stops them.

Windies at least made the English team work. I thought their batting showed real improvement over what they are usually like at this time of the year over here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they can keep going throughout the series.
Marlon Samuels is a strange one, he looks a proper batsman - handled all the English bowlers pretty well in the second innings. There is no way he should have such a low average.
Here's the bad sport in me. Shame that Stuart Broad got a ten for. I can't bring myself to like that player at all. Hell of a talent though.
