With Spanky in The Paper Age:

Of course, the same multiple editions and multiple formats are a boon to pedants who have nothing better to do than point and laugh at minor media mistakes.
So which is correct? I remember it was snaffled by The Klutz, but my memory is not what it was.
And you are a stickler for detail... hate to be one of your students. (pauses to check for spelling errors, knowing grammar is rooted)

The first one, which I assume is the later or amended one, is correct. Ponting, crouching for the catch, bungled the ball and Klutzy caught it on the rebound.

I've got lots of better things to do but I find it amusing when supposed professional sports watchers and writers can't get their facts straight or their spelling. The fact that someone else is proof-reading their copy before publishing and we still get mistakes is even better.

I wish they got the club and players horribly incorrect in the latest AFL drug and booze scandal. But with everything that's gone on I just resigned myself to the fact it was probably them anyway when I first heard. Luckily I kept my powder dry after hearing about the other rumor circulating the traps via old mate Derryn Hinch, who doesn't mind throwing innuendo out there, except he just comes out and says it instead.

Speaking of journalistic shenanigans.
Yesterday I noticed an irregularity - to employ a polite and nebulous term - at one of the newspapers, so I wrote a comment hinting that I knew what had happened.
The comment was not published, but a short time later I received a friendly email asking me not to say anything.
Since I am also a friendly cove I replied "no worries" but pointed out that I am not the only person who would have seen the blooper.
