"Look! A computer chose him."

I don't think the forces that be are beneath such carry on.

Slightly related: remember that unbearable summer when no one could understand why Tim May was an untouchable, and the NEIN TEEM constantly put up that graphic proving that Shane Warne needs him in the side. Goddam NEEDS him. What was going on there? That was a baffling, ongoing, and highly annoying piece of lobbying by channel 9.
Yobbo commented on 'CB SERIES'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341cb34453ef0148c8640cb4970c2011-02-06T16:33:46Z2011-02-06T16:33:46ZYobbohttp://yobbo.wordpress.comOh well now those 7 days of boredom are over, we have another 12 or so days of boredom to...
Oh well now those 7 days of boredom are over, we have another 12 or so days of boredom to look forward to.
Big Ramifications commented on 'CB SERIES'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341cb34453ef0148c8640072970c2011-02-06T16:24:01Z2011-02-06T16:24:01ZBig RamificationsNot sure if a) I missed the initial explanation of this terrible graphic or b) if it was the basis...
Not sure if a) I missed the initial explanation of this terrible graphic or b) if it was the basis of awarding the Vodaphone ODI Cricketer of the Summa™ but a) it was brandied about and pontificated on a lot, and it took me ages to figure out what was going on which involved me hitting pause in the end - the shame - and b) it was on screen when the NEIN TEEM were talking about the award, so I'm assuming it was the basis of the awarding of the award for now.

Question, and the whole point of this post apart from me telling you all how good I am: Does the weighting for a wicket look fair? Anyone with the skills to drill down into a cricket data base could answer this in a flash, but I reckon a five-for is way rarer than a century, hence I reckon a weighting of 20 is light on.

Maybe a non-linear scale is the way to go, but if you look how simple they've made it (eg. strike rates get absolutely no weighting) what's the statistically fair linear weighting for a wicket?

Not sure if you'd care to put up the actual graphic in the comments, Tony. Otherwise here's the link to the graphic: http://i52.tinypic.com/23nudt.jpg
